    Link Exchanges and Link Requests

    By seovida | August 26, 2007

Link requests are considered to be crucial for good search engine optimization. First list out all the sites you want links to your site from. Now do some research and go to their websites and obtain their email addresses manually or there are several tools available to do this for you. Find Sites that are similar but not in competition. Now although 1 way links are better i would rather change links with a site that is PR6 than have a oneway link that is Pr3 or less.

This certainly is a time consuming process, but well worth the time spent. Link requests are wonderful and work great for proper search engine optimization. Once you get the email addresses of the various sites, you will have to send emails to all these sites requesting them for link to your website and in turn you will link to theirs. You will find that there will be many people getting back to you accepting your link request. Be prepared to accept a no too. Many sites also may not want to accept your link request if their PR is higher than theirs, but other would not mind.

For all the accepted link requests, you will have to set up a link page, with probably not more than 20 links to any one site on one links page.

I would suggest you create a links page with different categories. You can have one category for business while you have another one for finance and so on. When people click on a category, they will go to the links page for that category. This makes it easier for navigation. Search engines also have a fondness for link pages that are set up like this.

Let me explain this in more details so that you understand what I am trying to say. For example, on the main link page, you have marketing, finance, and business. If a visitor clicks on the business category, they will be taken to a page that again has, category 1, category 2, and category 3. Again, when the visitor clicks on one of these categories, they will then go to the link page that has the actual links to the sites. This is far better than dumping all the links on one page and confusing the search engines and the website visitors.

This sort of arrangement of link pages helps in updating them easily and for the visitors too, this is easy to navigate and they will not get lost in all those links.

Search engines always love link pages that are divided into categories and easy to navigate. With links from the correct sites and places strategically on your web page, you will see yourself ranking high very soon. The most important part of this whole exercise is to ensure you have selected the right websites.
