Lesson #2

Why Having Your Local Business Listed
in The Local Newspapers and Listed in
The Yellow Pages – Just Isn’t Good Enough.

It’s just not good enough anymore to be listed in the Yellow Pages and be advertised in your local and state newspapers.  It’s not even good enough to have advertisements on local TV.

Those things are not bad, but there is something even larger that you should take note on. This thing I am speaking of is, of course, The Internet Search Engines.

If you don’t have a website, you need one.  The problem is many businesses that have a website are not using a website what it is designed for.  A website should be a port for you new and current customers.  A website should be a place where people can find you, learn about you and ultimately become buyers.  Not just any buyers – life long buyers.

Most Businesses Are Failing At The Search Engine Game.

It’s rather scary and sad to see what is happening to local brick and mortar businesses.   Often, it’s not the local businesses fault, but rather they’ve been given bad advice.  They are usually told that all they need is a website and they will increase their business and over all professionalism.  This is so far from the truth.

Not only do you need a website but you need the website to be ranked in the top 5-10 sites on the big three search engines (Google, Yahoo, msn (bing)).  More importantly you need to rank for the most important keywords related to your business.

Many Site Building Companies Have No Clue How To Help You Here.

The majority of companies or sites you’ll come across that can build a website for you actually have no clue how to get your site ranked in the search engines.  The problem this creates is that you’ll have a great looking website – BUT NO ONE WILL BE ABLE TO FIND YOU!

It does no good to have a website that hardly anyone ever sees or knows how to find. Unfortunately, this is almost identical to what we are seeing happen to local businesses.  Don’t be a member of this poor statistic.

Search engine listings for your business are vital but it goes even beyond that……..

You Need To Dominate Your Local Search Rankings – DOMINATE.

It’s also not good enough to just have one spot in the search engines anymore.  You need to fill as many spots as possible.  Imagine someone searches online and finds your business occupying 7 of the top 10 spots.  Who do you think they are going to visit?!  A good chance it’s going to be you.

The person coming to your site can be turned into a lifelong customer.  Remember the email marketing we spoke of last time?  You’ll want to get them into your email list when they visit your website.  Simple eh?

The Problem With This….

It can take a long time to learn search engine ranking and optimizing on your own.  Even when you know all of that stuff it can be extremely time consuming.  You need your free time to be able to focus on your business, family and a little bit of time for yourself.

You don’t have time to spend learning, link building, optimizing, ranking web 2.0 properties and keeping your knowledge up to date.

Again, your solution becomes us.  We want to do all of this for you, the way we’ve done for so many others.

So let’s recap.  It’s important to have your business listed in the Yellow Pages, Local Newspapers and local TV if you can afford to.

You also need to have yourself ranked in the search engines, fully optimized and know what you’re doing.  You also MUST have an email marketing campaign running and pulling you in sales on autopilot!

Let’s look at some statistics.

Imagine you currently have 2000 customers per week.  Let’s say each customers spends $100.  That means your business is making $20,000 per week.  Not bad.

Let’s also assume that you’re already doing local newspaper and Yellow Pages advertising.
So $20,000 per week still isn’t too bad.

But, could you imagine instead of only making $20,000 per week, making around $38,000 – $45,000.

Don’t laugh even business that only get 1000 customers a week can do this.  Even business with 250 customers per week can do this as well.  Basically, it doesn’t matter how many customers you have per week.

Here’s how.  Imagine everyday that you had 200 visitors come to your website.  Imagine that only 10% of them went on to your local business and bought something from you.  That’s an extra $2000 for no extra work.

Imagine 50% become regular customers.  That means every week they start spending that $100 on a regular basis.  As you customers keep coming in and converting over that $2000 can quickly become $40,000.

If you keep all your new customers happy, they will never leave!  Powerful eh?  Then going back to our first lesson, they join your email list and each week you mail them promotional material and deals.  More and more people will begin spending more, coming back more often and as long as you treat them like gold they’ll come see you a lot.
