Plugboards

Monday, August 20, 2007 @ 03:08 PM

Using Plugboards is a great way to increase traffic to your website. This is a little known technique but one that works well. A plugboard allows your visitors to plug their website, which means advertise their site. This helps them come back to your website and in the process helps you get more visitors to your site.

In order to have a plugboard on your site, you will have to create an account first. There are several sites offering this service and charge for the service, but I suggest you go in for a free one. After you sign in, you will receive a code to be added to your site. People will then start visiting your site to add their plugs for free. Not only can you create a plugboard on your site, but you can also plug your sites at other people’s plugboards, all this for free. It is a very interesting SEO technique.

When you are exchanging plugs this way, it actually amounts to exchanging links. The difference being, plugs are very quick to generate and don’t take time. There is nothing you need to do, like getting permissions. There is no need to upload any files. Creating a plugboard is the easiest way of being seen by the search engines and people.

Plugboard advertising is gaining in popularity because things happen immediately and results are quick. Plugboards are a great way of gaining link popularity, which is the most important thing in search engine visibility, especially in Google.

You would, I am sure, like to know if there is anything that you need to take care of when using plugboards. The plug buttons are images and as you know, too many images slow down the opening of your webpage. Make sure you do not have your plugboard on your home page and have it on a separate page. Also, limiting the number of plug buttons would help. On your plugboard, if you set the limit to say 30, once the number reaches 30, when a new plug is added, the oldest one will be deleted, so that at all times, you don’t have more than 30 plugs.

After having said that, I just realized I didn’t explain what a plug button is. It is a small banner advertisement. They are small and can displayed on a plugboard. You can also animate the buttons if you like, to make them more interesting.

You can get your plugboards set up from a number of free places. Make sure the one you are using allows you to decide on the size of the grid and provides spam prevention option.
